Reactions of [RuH(CO)Cl(EPh3)3] (E = P, As) with 4-cyanopyridine, 1,4-dicyanobenzene, 1,4-dicyanobutene and of [Ru(η5-C5H5)ClL2] [L2 = (PPh3)2, (AsPh3)2, dppe, dppm] with 1,4-dicyanobenzene in the presence of anions like BF4-, PF6-, BPh4-, ClO4-, have been carried out. Cyanopyridine containing hydridocarbonyl complexes showed a marked tendency to react with halogenated solvents yielding complexes containing no hydride ions. The cationic mononuclear, binuclear and neutral complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses and spectral (IR, UV-vis, 1H and 13C NMR) studies. © 1990.
