摘要
A Gram-stain negative, aerobic, non-flagellated, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain SM1810(T), was isolated from deep-sea sediment collected from the Southwest Indian Ocean. Strain SM1810(T) grows at 15-40 degrees C (optimum, 28 degrees C), at pH 5.0-9.0 (optimum, pH 6.0-7.0) and with 0-8% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1.5%). Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain SM1810(T) is affiliated with the genus Pedobacter, sharing high sequence similarity (95.8%) with the type strain of Pedobacter bauzanensis. The major fatty acids of strain SM1810(T) are iso-C-15:0, summed feature 3 (C-16:1 omega 7c and/or C-16:1 omega 6c) and iso-C-17:0 3OH. The predominant respiratory quinone is MK-7. The polar lipids are phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminophospholipid, an unidentified phospholipid and eight unidentified lipids. The genomic DNA G + C content of strain SM1810(T) was determined to be 40.8 mol%. Based on the phylogenetic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic data obtained in this study, strain SM1810(T) is concluded to represent a novel species of the genus Pedobacter, for which the name Pedobacter indicus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SM1810(T) (KCTC 62798(T) = CCTCC AB 2018198(T)).
