Indirect detection in ion-exclusion chromatography

Indirect detection is widely applied in ion-exchange chromatography and capillary electrophoresis. Equations are derived which predict its application in ion-exclusion chromatography is also possible. Two detection systems are discussed, photometric and conductometric. With the latter it was possible to present results from direct and indirect detection on one chromatogram depending on the relative limiting conductivities (diffusion coefficients) of solute and background electrolyte.
