Implementation of a high-speed and low-complexity FFT processor for UWB system

摘要
A novel 8-point Fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm is presented in this paper. The Radix-8 unit designed with the proposed algorithm is area-efficient and suitable for low power design such as the Ultrawideband (UWB) transceiver. Furthermore, both the input and output of the unit are in nature order. A 128-point FFT processor for practical UWB application has been designed using SMIC 0.18 mu m CMOS process based on the proposed Radix-8 unit, the power dissipation is 82.7mW at the working frequency of 132MHz, and it can meet the specification of UWB system with the throughout rate of 409.6Msample/s.
