摘要
17 aluminum alloy plates with elliptical hole were tested in the simple tension fracture experiment. The load-displacement curves were recorded accurately. The effect of the ratio of the major axis to the minor axis of elliptical hole on the fracture ductility and fracture mode was studied. The experimental results showed that the macro-crack was initiated at the inner side of the edge of major axis of elliptical hole, and quickly expanded vertically the direction of loading until the specimen fractured. Fracture section was dark gray. Fracture mode was combination of shear and normal fracture. The smaller ratio value was; the higher the fracture ductility was. Fracture load located at the descending branch of load-displacement curve.
