High-Rate Data Transfer with Congestion-Aware Multipath Routing

We propose CAMPRI - Congestion Aware Multipath Routing - that forwards traffic from a sender to a destination over multiple links concurrently. CAMPRI uses Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) to find the paths that are less congested and let each router dynamically move traffic to the least congested paths. For flows that can tolerate packet reordering, this results in better network utilisation and higher throughput. With proper rate control, CAMPRI will benefit also flows that are statically routed. In this first presentation of CAMPRI, we argue that our distributed algorithm does not induce oscillations with a single congested link, but it remains to be seen how scalable it is.
