摘要
This paper presents a systematic examination of tour guide management in Hainan, China. A series of issues and problems with the implemented management mechanisms are identified. It reveals how inappropriate management measures contribute to deterioration of the guiding service and unhealthy operation of the guiding business. It argues that an enhanced tour guide management system could raise the professionalism of tour guides and also restrain improper business practices, thereby enhancing the quality of services provided by tour guides.
