摘要
In the multimodal perspective, gestures are an integral part of language and operate together with vocalization in interactions, forming a single linguistic matrix (MCNEILL, 1985). This bibliographic work aims to describe the role and incidence of different types of gestures in the process of acquisition of the English language as L2 by Brazilian children in a bilingual context, based on results obtained by Peixoto (2020), in which she observed a greater presence of deictic gestures both in L1 and in L2, and these seem to facilitate speech.
