摘要
Introduction: Cardiometabolic risk is known as a group of metabolic disorders that can lead to the development of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. This is a reflection of poor eating practices and physical inactivity, which begin during adolescence and later life. university. Objective: To determine the cardiometabolic risk in engineering students of the Santiago Antunez de Mayolo National University, Huaraz.Material and Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional research carried out in a sample of 211 students of the professional careers of Engineering of Food Industries and Industrial Engineering of the National University Santiago Antunez de Mayolo. The data was obtained by measuring the Body Mass Index and waist circumference, analysis of the lipid profile and glycemia, blood pressure control and physical activity. For the contrast of normality, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used and for the treatment and analysis of the variables cardiometabolic risk and physical activity, the Spearman's Rho statistical test was applied. For the cardiometabolic risk variables, glucose values, cholesterol, triglycerides, abdominal circumference, blood pressure and sex of the students, the Chi square test was applied. Results: There is no relationship between cardiometabolic risk according to professional school in engineering students (p-value= 0.083). In Industrial Engineering, 4% of women present high cardiometabolic risk and 37% moderate risk; while 2% of men have high cardiometabolic risk and 44% moderate risk. In Food Industry Engineering, moderate cardiometabolic risk predominates, 57% of women and 48% of men. Likewise, according to Spearman's correlation coefficient, there is a moderate relationship between the cardiometabolic risk variables and physical activity (p=0.724).Conclusion: A large percentage of engineering students at the Universidad Nacional Santiago Antunez de Mayolo present moderate cardiometabolic risk, observing this condition in men as well as in women.
