With the development of pipe jacking technology, it has been widely used all over the country. Usually, the construction of slurry balanced pipe jacking will avoid the construction in cold winter areas. However, with the continuous breakthrough of pipe jacking length, in order to not interrupt the construction, necessary measures will be taken to carry out pipe jacking construction in severe cold areas in winter under special circumstances. Based on the construction of Jiaoliu River non-pressure tunnel jacking project in the tunnel section of Yinchao-Jiliao Water Conveyance Project, this paper introduces the key technologies of winter construction of pipe jacking project, including the construction of thermal insulation shed, boiler heat calculation, pipeline thermal insulation measures, mud heating system, etc., and carries out temperature monitoring in each position of pipe jacking pipe and thermal insulation shed, which verifies the feasibility of winter construction scheme of slurry balance pipe jacking, and provides reference for subsequent pipe jacking projects in similar cold regions. © 2025 Ernst & Sohn GmbH.
