CONTROLLING PUBLIC-HEALTH NUISANCES - GUIDELINES FOR LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS

The Minnesota Department of Health, through the Community Health Services Advisory Committee, recognized that there was a significant problem in dealing with public health nuisance control. A survey was done throughout the Community Boards of Health to determine common nuisances encountered. Working cooperatively with a committee representing regional areas of the state and a variety of health professionals and local government personnel, the editors developed a guide for public nuisance control, including an overview of statutory development, case studies, sample warrants and forms, and a model policy and procedures. This model will be useful for any public health group in formulating a concise method for public health nuisance control.
