O-2(-) FORMATION THROUGH N2O ON ZRO2 SURFACE

The authors intended to form O- on ZrO2 through the interaction of N2O which was a well-known precausor molecule of O- on MgO or V2O5/SiO2. However, EPR spectra of O- were not obtained, but the spectra of O-2(-) were observed. Other spectra which were identified to be O-3(-) were also observed when N2O was interacted with ZrO2 at 183 to 303 K. O-2(-) was the most stable species, the half life time of which was 5 days at room temperature, and O-3(-) was less stable on ZrO2. O- was considered to be a precausor of O-2(-), however, the half life time of O- must be quite short. Those species are discussed as possible intermediates of N2O decomposition.
