EFFECT OF SHAPES OF FILTER MEDIA ON INITIAL FILTER COEFFICIENTS IN DEEP BED FILTRATION

摘要
The initial filter coefficients are fairly well estimated by trajectory calculations for systems where both the suspended particles and the filter media are of spherical shape. Strictly speaking, these calculations cannot be applied to cases where suspended particles are spherical but filter media are not. However, the experimental results showed fairly good agreement with trajectory calculations if the specific surface mean diameter, measured by the usual permeability method, was used as medium size. © 1980, Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan.
