TEACHING GRAMMAR: RELATIONS BETWEEN REFLECTION AND THE USE OF LANGUAGE

摘要
The present article is focused on the didactic relationship between grammar, understood as a reflection on the language, and the improvement of the linguistic use. For this, is addressed, first of all, the purpose of teaching languages in school curriculums and the role that is attributed to the grammar reflection in them. Then it shows the importance of the research on the activity concerning metalinguistic activity to an approach of the grammar in use. Finally, we review some paths explored by the didactic research in relation to what happens in the classroom (how students learn, how teachers are involved, which contents are transferred to the classroom) and in relation to the approaches that aim to the development of the metalinguistic conscience and showing the viability of new forms of intervention in the classroom.
