Analyses of the hot strength of fluxed sinter on the basis of the pressure drop of reducing gas in the sinter bed are discussed. It is concluded that, in such tests, conditions in the blast furnace stack should be approached as closely as possible. The extremal nature of the relations between hot strength and FeO content of sinter was established experimentally for conditions at the Huta Katowice Combine (Poland), and they can be extrapolated to plants where similar sinters are used.
