Tl0.5Pb0.5Sr1.7Ba0.3Ca2Cu3Ox superconducting films were prepared from metal acetate sol. A simple procedure was developed to prepare the films. Nearly phase pure films on MgO and strontium titanate substrates with preferred grain orientation were obtained. The T(c) and J(c) of the films were above 120 K and 10(5) A/cm2 respectively in the absence of applied magnetic fields and above 10(4) A/cm2 at an applied magnetic field of 10(4) G. Experimental procedures, microstructures, and electrical properties of the films with respect to J(c) are presented.
