XPS STUDY OF PB/YBACUO THIN-FILM TUNNEL CONTACT

摘要
The nature of the chemical interaction between a Pb overlayer and a usual YBa2Cu3O6.9 thin-film surface is studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It is found that Pb withdraws oxygen preferentially from the high-T(c) superconducting (HTSC) phase where it reduced Cu selectively in a time comparable with the Pb decomposition time. This relatively fast process is followed by a much slower outdiffusion of oxygen from the deeper layers of the HTSC grains and thus it changes the characteristics of the tunnel junction in time. Temperature, vacuum and Ar+ sputtering effects on the YBaCuO thin-film surfaces are discussed, too.
