THE SYNTHESIS, STRUCTURE AND REDOX PROPERTIES OF THE [FE3(CO)9S]2- DIANION

摘要
Crystals of [Bu4N]2 [Fe3 (CO)9S] were prepared with (NH4)2MoS4, Fe(CO)5 and Bu4NBr as starting materials, and their structure was determined by X-ray diffraction. They belong to the triclinic space group P1BAR with a = 10.969(2) angstrom, b = 12.472(3) angstrom, c = 20.363(5) angstrom, alpha = 100.89-degrees, beta = 97.12-degrees, gamma = 108.07-degrees, V = 2550.6(4) angstrom 3 and Z = 2. The block least-square refinement of all structure parameters gave a final discrepancy factor R = 0.089. Redox characteristics of the cluster dianion, [Fe3(CO)9S]2-, have been studied by cyclic voltammetry.
