摘要
Between the 1980s and 1990s the scenario of the telecommunications sector was marked by a number of structural and technological changes that led, in subsequent years, a wide race for the diversification of services offered. From this new context, in order to remain competitive, the company object of this study identified the need for professionalization of its technological innovation management system. Thus, the present study investigated the innovation process of a Brazilian company in the telecommunications services sector and, to this end, analyzed the process of technological innovation and its implementation in practice, using as an example, the development process a service. From the analysis of the results, it was concluded that formal innovation management in the company brought discipline, focus and clarity to innovation processes. Allowed shorter innovation cycles and formalized decision-making based on joint assessments of projects. However it was noted that some mandatory aspects of innovation management need improvement, such as auditing and monitoring the project, little attention to market research activities, making it clear that the identified opportunities are occupied by imposing technology to the market (technology push).
