摘要：
Various global conditions have helped to create a market for software; and various local factors have helped to ensure that Indian companies can compete for a share of this market. Willingness to enter the market is driven by perceptions about thc domestic market, about competitors, and about policy. As a result, exports take place, but exports that fall largely into a particular pattern. Despite some forces for change, it seems likely that this pattern of exports will persist for some time to come.
