Environmental educator's professional self image: A contribution to studies in the education profession

The following document is the result of a study, which aims to contribuye to the identification of the professional profile of environmental educators currently in practice. This research is based on the self-image of environmental educator's duties, as well as the competences wich are considered necessary for their professional activity. A qualitative methodology, with discussion groups as the technique to collect data, was chosen to carry out the study. This option has proven to be specially indicated to recollect the opinions which environmental educators have, seconded by their experience, of their professional and educative profile. The analysis of the information permits us to establish competences, in general, as well an approach to their professional profile.
