Lipids of different thallus regions of the brown alga Sargassum miyabei from the Sea of Japan

摘要
The fatty acid and lipid composition of different parts of the thallus of the brown alga Sargassum miyabei was studied. The upper and lower thallus regions markedly differed in amounts of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), monoenoic fatty acids, phospholipids, and glycolipids. The lower thallus regions were rich in monoenoic fatty acids and phospholipids, while the upper parts had higher levels of n-3 PUFAs and glycolipids.
