Background: Occlusion can be the cause of functional disorders that also affect the musculoskeletal system.; Methods: If correction of occlusion is necessary it should always be carried out with as little effort as possible in order to reduce the irreversible reduction of hard tooth tissue to an absolute minimum. The solution often lies in an interdisciplinary cooperation between orthodontics and prosthetics as presented in this article.
