摘要
Based on Oxley s predictive model, the novel analytical modeling of shear band spacing of serrated chip in high speed cutting of aluminum alloys is investigated accounting for the effect of strain rate hardening in addition to temperature softening. It is indicated that the shear band spacing decreases with increasing the cutting velocity and increases with increasing undeformed chip thickness. Other than the cutting velocity and undeformed chip thickness, the shear band spacing initially descends to minimum and subsequently ascends with increasing the tool rake angle.
