摘要
Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires with an average diameter of 15 nm were grown using a vapor phase transport process. Field emission was achieved from these nanowires in spite of their random orientation. The electric field for the extraction of a 10 muA/cm(2) current density was measured to range from 4.4 to 5.0 V/mum, and that for a 1 mA/cm(2) current density from 7.6 to 8.7 V/mum, depending on whether the sample was submitted to a heat treatment. The results exhibit the potential application of ZnO nanowires as field emitters in future flat panel displays. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
