The development of paradigm of innovation & the inevitability of total innovation management - A view from innovation degeneration

Innovation is a societal process related to development. The literature reviewed evolving process of study of innovation management. Based on these researches, this paper summarized evolution of innovation management from single factor pattern, multi-factors/integrated pattern, to systemic pattern. Meanwhile, this paper initiated the concept (of innovation degeneration and pointed out that innovation degeneration is drive of evolution of innovation management. Furthermore, based on summarizing innovation degeneration phenomenon occurred in the process of systemic innovation pattern, this paper indicated that total innovation management (TIM) with three dimensions of total functional innovation, 2417 innovation, and all-involved innovation is a basic theory to deal with innovation degeneration.
