Direct measurement of the band structure of a one-dimensional surface superlattice

摘要
We present a measurement of equilibrium tunneling between a two-dimensional electron gas and a one-dimensional surface superlattice in a double quantum well system. We interpret the tunneling characteristics within the tunneling Hamiltonian formalism and show that the regular series of peaks observed reflects the crystal part of the band structure of the superlattice. In addition, by comparing experiment to theory, we find an approximation to the effective potential of the superlattice.
