Academic professionalization and departmental organization in the debates of the University Convention of the University of Buenos Aires

The Statute of the University of Buenos Aires, drawn up in 1958, represented the codification of a set of ideas, criteria and devices about what that university should be like after the Peronist experience. The history of the UBA between 1958 and 1966 and from 1983 to the present. In this work the debates on the fundamental aspects of the university program modernizing group of the UBA are approached: the academic professionalization and the departmental organization. To do so, the shorthand versions of the Assembly are used, a very interesting and little explored source, in which the arguments, agreements and controversies of the main actors of the university policy of that time are manifested.
