摘要
In this paper an analysis of radio spectrum in Ecuador is carried out, which, currently, is not used efficiently. According to information obtained from the Agency for Regulation and Control of Telecommunications (ARCOTEL), although the spectrum is fully distributed, it is considered underused since during certain lapses of time there is no transmission of useful information. In this context the blanks on the FM band and the viability of this technology are analyzed to provide data transmission services applied to Smart Grids. It is proposed a Neighborhood Area Network topology, in which Smart Meters send information related to consumption and failures to the Data Aggregation Point that later will form a Metropolitan Area Network in order to manage and transmit the data to the agency responsible for regulating electricity consumption. Finally, a complete topology is raised that can be used to support Smart Grid applications using radio white spaces.
