A comparative study of fractal dimension estimation for speech

摘要
Fractal dimension provides an objective means for quantifying the fractal property of an object and comparing objects observed in the natural world. Fractals thus provide a simple description of many natural forms. This paper investigates and compares the properties of four fractal dimension estimation methods namely the box counting method (BCM), the continuous box counting method (CBCM), the power spectrum method (PSM) and finally the line divider method (LDM). Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the comparison between the developed methods.
