Multimedia-aided English teaching model based on computer platform

In this study, the author focuses on teaching practice with the aid of multimedia and proposes a new teaching model based on the multimedia and Internet technology. A comparison is made between two different multimedia teaching models to testify whether the new model (the combination of classroom lectures and network-aided autonomous learning) is superior to the old one (classroom lectures and listening and speaking practice in the language lab) in terms of promoting students' English abilities; consequently, an effective multimedia teaching model conforming to the author's own institute can be obtained for promoting the abilities of foreign language teaching and learning. The teaching practice and the analysis of the data indicate that the college English teaching model based on multimedia and Internet technology is ideal. The model reflects the conformity of traditional and modern teaching method, is accepted by students, and is undoubtedly effective for language instruction.
