摘要
During the preparation of this essay, the tragic death of Robert Phillips, on Christmas Day, 2003, was announced. Rob Phillips was widely respected for his work on the politics of the history curriculum in the UK and for his particular interest in history in Wales. He was a passionate and highly articulate contributor to the debates addressed in John White's volume; his work is referred to by Terry Haydn in the chapter on history. This essay is dedicated to his memory.
