Structural and dynamic properties of four-way helical junctions in DNA molecules

摘要
Four-way helical junctions in DNA are the central intermediates in genetic recombination. In the presence of divalent metal ions they fold into the stacked X-structure by the pairwise coaxial stacking of helical arms. Exchange between alternative stacking conformers occurs in solution. The structure of four-way junctions is specifically recognised by proteins, notably by the resolving enzymes.
