On the formation of hotspot in microwave heating

摘要
We consider a simple model for microwave heating. The effect of non-uniform diffusivity as well as non-uniform electric fields on the formation of hotspots is investigated. A fundamental mode approximation is used in the analysis. It is shown that non-uniform diffusifity and electric fields contribute to the occurrence of hotspots. To illustrate, numerical results are carried for a unit slab geometry.
