摘要
This paper intends to demonstrate how self-compacting concrete can contribute to reduce the effects of the construction industry in terms of sustainable development. The impact of the construction industry on the environment is significant and it can not be overlooked when analysing the issue of sustainable and balanced development of the planet with an emphasis on the greenhouse effect and the consumption of limited natural resources. This paper highlights how the use of self-compacting concrete (SCC) can be an important contribute to reach a better sustainable development, namely by incorporating significant quantities of sub-products of other industries and recycled materials in its composition, and by potentially increasing the structures durability which will lead to longer life cycles.
