摘要：

We propose a new method for waveguide mode transformation and coupling between an optical fiber and a submicrometer waveguide. The method is based on mode effective index modification by a subwavelength grating and it is demonstrated by FDTD simulations of coupling between an SMF-28 fiber and a thin SOI waveguide.
