Intercultural Competence and Foreign Language Teaching

There has been an increasing attention to and experimentation with teaching language and culture in integrated ways. In this approach, the writer puts forward the necessity that teachers should be required to teach intercultural communicative competence (ICC, or intercultural competence, for short), which becomes more and more important during the past years: globalisation and worldwide contacts between companies, organizations and individuals need the ability to communicate in a successful way.
