A real-time software MPEG-2 decoder for multimedia PCs

摘要：
A software MPEG-2 decoder which runs on PCs with a Pentium Processor with MMX technology (MMX Pentium) has been developed. With optimizations for the processor architecture, this software enables nearly real-time synchronized playback of MPEG-2 MP@ML video bit-stream and audio bit-stream (Dolby Digital or MPEG). In this paper, software optimization and performance of the software playback system are described.
