SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF N-SUBSTITUTED BENZIMIDAZOLES

摘要
Two series of benzimidazole derivatives were synthesized by the condensation of different 2-substituted benzimidazoles with 3-(2-chlorophenyl)-5-methylisoxazole-4-carbonylchloride (CMIC) and 3-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-5-methylisoxazole-4-carbonyl chloride (DCMIC). The synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, H-1 NMR, elemental analysis and their physical properties. The compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activity. All the compounds exhibited significant to moderate antibacterial and antifungal activities.
