摘要
Japanese Management Systems (JMSs) have attracted a lot of attraction world over due to the phenomenal success of Japanese corporations. Many companies in India also have adopted or are adopting JMSs. This study is targeted to find out the potentiality, suitability and requirements; and the enablers and impediments for implementation of JMSs in Indian industries. The literature on JMSs is reviewed to understand what drives JMSs, including some of the case studies. A wide cross section of Indian industries is surveyed using a questionnaire developed for the purpose, which is evolved with a view to address the issues of interest and not the methods for analysis. Industry executives and experts on JMSs are also contacted in person to collect their views on JMSs in the Indian context. This helped in validating the results obtained by questionnaire survey. Using the information collected inferences are drawn regarding the status and scope of JMSs in Indian industries. Based on these findings guidelines are proposed as a road map for smooth and effective implementation of JMSs in Indian industries.
