Adaptation and validation of Premarital Personal And Relationship Evaluation (PREPARE) with premarital Spanish couples

In this study we adapted the Premarital Personal And Relationship Evaluation Inventory (PREPARE; Olson, 1999) with Spanish premarital couples (n = 1575). A series of factor analyses (LISREL 8.52) confirmed the twenty-factor solution proposed by the author. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were adequate, except for a few subscales. A typological analysis was also conducted to classify Spanish premarital couples into different types. The results were compared with the U.S. norms described in Fowers and Olson's study (1992) to delineate the compatibility and possible cultural differences between the two populations.
