Phase structures and electrical properties of new lead-free Na0.5K0.5NbO3-LiSbO3-BiFeO3 ceramics

(1 - x)(0.95Na(0.5)K(0.5)NbO(3)-0.05LiSbO(3))-xBiFeO(3) solid-solution piezoelectric ceramics have been fabricated by conventional ceramic processing. A morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) between orthorhombic and tetragonal ferroelectric phases was identified around x = 0.004. The ceramics near the MPB exhibit good electrical properties (d(33) = 260 pC/N-1, k(rho) = 51.5%, T-c = 365 degrees C, rho = 4.51 g cm(-3) and tan theta=2.00%). The results indicate that this ceramic is a promising lead-free piezoelectric material. (C) 2009 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
