TEACHING DESIGN, INNOVATION, CREATIVITY, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP TO FILIPINO STUDENTS

摘要
This ethnographic study presents the process of designing, prototyping, and improving a problem-based, design thinking course called Design, Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship (DICE) at Philippine Science High School (PSHS). It narrates the rationale for the course, outlines the various aspects of the course design, evaluates its performance according to its intended objectives, and present learnings as design principles for developing such a course. Four months of personal observation notes, interview and discussion transcripts, and student journals were gathered and analysed to answer the following questions: can design and innovation be taught? How can it be demonstrated more effectively to Filipino students? How can a problem-based course on design increase student motivation? Is DICE a great way to inspire young young innovators and entrepreneurs? How might we use design thinking to develop a course on design thinking?
