摘要
Energy is crucial component of socio-economic development of any country. Climate change, increasing energy demand and rising oil prices has fostered the use of renewable energy sources. Wind energy represents substantial potential of renewable energy resource in the world and the installed capacity of wind turbine has increased rapidly. The recent technological revolution in variable-speed wind turbines coupled to Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) has made wind energy competitive and popular. However, DFIG is sensitive to grid disturbances. This paper reports the use of stator dynamic braking resistor (SDBR) to limit the voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC) in order to improve the low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability of the system. When the grid voltage dip occurs, a stator dynamic braking resistor connected in series with the stator terminals is usually activated. In this paper the effect of the (SDBR) are studied and analyzed. Simulation results based on MATLAB/SIMULINK are discussed.
