摘要
The current study is aiming to provide a general overview of the air quality in Romania in order to propose a strategic vision for the next twenty years. Thus, the authors correlated the strategic objectives that address the major sectors impacting air quality, transport, industry, energy, waste, and climate change, in line with current and prospective challenges and threats. In this regard, following a SWOT analysis and relying on some of the most important national and EU strategic documents, a number of strategic objectives have been identified: reducing greenhouse gases emissions (GHG), energy efficiency, climate change, air quality and enhancing ecological performance. Moreover, several action lines (human resources, infrastructure, enhancing environmental performance and sustainable management of natural resources, research, development and innovation, communication and education) were highlighted. Each action line was assessed following its specific targets and measures for the 2035 timeline. In setting the targets, the measures and expected results were reviewed and correlated with the strategies and strategic objectives contained in Romania's development plans on environmental protection and air quality.
