A NEW TYPE CHILD SAFETY SEAT FEATURING SLIDING MOTION WITH MR DAMPER

摘要
Nowadays, the safety is one of important factors in car industry. The seat belt in the car secures people from the accident, but it is unsuitable for babies and children. For this reason, separated baby car seats have been developed and implemented in existing cars to protect them. Nevertheless, the neck fracture is another issue because head inertia is uncontrollable. In order to resolve this problem, this paper suggests a new baby car seat for protecting neck of baby from accident. The novelty in the new baby car seat is that it consists of MR damper and sliding motion mechanism. During sliding motion, the sitting side of sliding chair moves horizontally on the linear guide rail which is installed on bottom part of the fixed chair, and the back of the sliding chair leans on the fixed chair. This is possible because the sliding chair can be deformed. The proposed system effectively decreases collision shock and protects the baby from the neck fracture. The velocity of the sliding chair is controlled by MR damper. To analyze the performance of the proposed system during frontal impact, a mathematical model is derived. Then, a comparative work between the proposed baby car seat and the existing baby car seat is undertaken.
