CRITICISM OF STATOLATRY: CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ANARCHIST PHILOSOPHY TO ANTI-RACIST AND DECOLONIAL PERSPECTIVE

Based on the concept of epistemicide by Boaventura de Souza Santos, we seek to situate the coloniality of knowledge exercised both against anarchist philosophy and the decolonial perspective (which places indigenous and black thinking at the center). We point to the connection between statolatry (including as political theology) and western and westernized literature on the one hand; and the decolonial literature and wisdom of the native peoples of another. The article presents the importance of the perspective of decolonial analysis when pointing out racism as a structuring axis of Modernity. In order to increase the effectiveness of decolonial criticism, we recover some of the main concepts of anarchist philosophy. We aim, therefore, to bring these two interpretative schools together and show that part of anarchist criticism can be very useful for anti-racist purposes. Therefore, simultaneously, we present the meaning of some important concepts: statehood, coloniality of power, direct action and self-government. We also articulate the categories of freedom and equality as central to both anarchist and decolonial thinking. We show how the State was one of the main institutions responsible for the enslavement, torture and murders of blacks and indigenous people, as well as the statehood unifying different European philosophies.
