The Application of Multimedia Network Technology in College English Teaching

With the development of multimedia technology, multimedia instruction has become a main part of modern education technology and computer-assisted English teaching has proved to be the new trend of the development of English teaching. Constructivism, as the import theory basis of computer-assisted English teaching, tends to be integrated with the practice of college and has provided theoretical foundation for educational reform and multimedia English teaching of colleges English. The integration of multimedia network technology and English teaching accelerates the transition from isolated and unidirectional teaching mode to an open and diverse one. Multimedia technology has an irreplaceable role and clear superiority in college English teaching, but advanced technology is merely to assist teaching; it cannot take the place of teachers in classroom teaching. Corresponding teaching strategies must be proposed according to the four elements of constructivism, which are "situation", "cooperation", "conversation" and "meaning construction", to improve teaching in the application of multimedia teaching
