Research on the Strategies of Improving the Information-based Teaching Abilities of the English Teachers in Higher Vocational Colleges

In the network era, the information-based teaching abilities of the higher vocational college teachers directly determine the effects of the higher vocational education. Through the analysis of the related factors that currently constraining the promotion of the information-based teaching abilities of the teachers in the higher vocational education and the status of the information-based teaching abilities of the teachers, the author proposes the strategies for improving the information-based teaching abilities of the teachers, to provide the reference for the cultivation of the information-based teaching abilities of the teachers in the higher vocational colleges. The National Medium and Long Term Plan for Educational Reform and Development (2010-2020) proposed that the educational development is to achieve the goals of "strengthening the application of the information technology, improving the levels of the teachers in the application of the information technology, and updating the teaching concepts". It also points out that "the information technology has the revolutionary effect on the development of the education, and we must attach great importance to it". In this regard, the Ministry of Education in March 2012 further developed the "Plans for the ten-year development of the educational informatization (2011-2020)", which proposed that we should develop the educational information system by 2020 in accordance with the development goals of the national educational modernization. The levels of the integrated development of the information technology and the education are significantly improved. The higher vocational education, as an important part of our country's education, is responsible for the important task of training the skilled personnel in our country. The higher vocational teachers are the keys to the higher vocational education, and their level of the information-based teaching abilities directly affects the information-based teaching in the higher vocational education. The reform of the English teaching in the higher vocational education based on the information technologies is imperative under the situation. We should make full use of the modern information technologies to deepen the reform of the higher vocational English teaching, strengthen the in-depth integration of the modern information technique and the higher vocational English teaching, and promote the informatization construction of the resources of the higher vocational English teaching, which have become the important tasks of the reform of the English teaching in higher vocational colleges.
