摘要
The present work seeks to establish a relationship between the practice of chess and the development of competences at a cognitive, social and affective level. To develop the study proposed here, a theoretical review was carried out on the use of chess as a pedagogical resource within a historical-cultural perspective. Finally, we arrived at the theoretical construct that leaves clear evidence regarding the influence of the game of chess, when used as a pedagogical tool. The incentive to use this material also appears during the Escola Nova movement, which advocated learning by doing, in which teachers should experiment, but the lack of preparation to work with this type of material resulted in a decrease in its efficiency, even even today.
